BEGINNERS TRAIL RUNNING DAY

NEW DATE: 15 JUNE 2024

PRICE:

£65pp

We joined Charlie and Matt on their introduction to trail running in the Cotswolds. This was a wonderfully relaxed day where they shared they knowledge and experience with a number of runs over the course of the day. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to venture into trail running. Think we will be back for some of their other holidays

ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE

The Cotswolds are a truly remarkable area of outstanding natural beauty; chocolate box villages, rolling green hills and a true English way of life which has barely changed in hundreds of years.

What truly captures our attention in this part of the world is the Cotswold Edge - an escarpment which rises from the plains of the river Severn and stretches for almost 100 miles running from North to South. The variety of trails which weave their way along the escarpment are astounding, and it is for that reason alone why it is one of our favourite places in the country to run and explore.

OUR DAY

Intro to Trail Running

Day 1 - Arrival into Woodchester Park / Intro to Trail Running

Distance: Approx. 8+ miles

Arrival this morning at our base camp in Woodchester Park for 10:00. We’ll catch up over coffee and tea which gives us a chance to meet the rest of the group and a briefing of what you can expect from the day ahead.

We begin with a workshop on trail technique, getting our gear ready and head straight out onto the Cotswold hills for some spectacular trail running.

Taking an easy and sociable pace our morning run includes a tutorial on running techniques and how to approach and descend hills.

We’ll be out on our feet for between 3 - 4 hours including the stops we make.

Our base point will provide snacks, drinks, and lunch with plenty of stops to take in the jaw-dropping Cotswold views.

We’ll get back on the trail after lunch to test out what we’ve learnt this morning, running some beautiful kilometres where we route back.

Back at our base for goodbyes with an expected departure of around 15:30.

FAQ

GROUP MANAGEMENT

Being a group of max. 8 runners with a mixture of ages and running abilities we may decide to split into flexible groups, all of which will be supported by our running guides who will travel with us on the trip.

By splitting the group will allow us all to move more fluidly, allowing all team members to run at their own comfortable pace, without feeling pressured.

TRAIL RUNNING

The terrain is undulating and includes some steep uphill sections which we walk, as well as some shorter, steeper downhill sections at times.

We’ll be running through forested trails, fields, and rolling hills. Underfoot conditions consist of hard-packed and forested trails which make for very enjoyable running.

TEMPERATURES

We run the trails in early summer when the forests and the countryside is lush and green. We can expect daily temperatures to sit on an average of 15 - 18 degrees C.

You should also prepare for the chance of rain and wind, as well as bright sunshine.

PROFESSIONALLY LED

The journey will be hosted by a qualified trail running coach. We’ll run as a group at a sociable and easy running pace that suits everyone.
